Super Omega-3 EPK/DHK Fish Oil with Sesame Lignans and Olive Extract provides pure, fresh fish oil from a sustainable source - South African anchovies caught off the coast of Chile. The fish oil has been rated with the highest 5-star rating by the International Fish Oil Standards (IFOS). The IFOS programme measures the quality of omega-3 products against global standards set by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN).
The IFOS assessment takes into account each of the following four categories:
Category 1 - tests the concentration of omega-3 in the product.
Category 2 - tests the number of toxins and contaminants such as mercury, PCBs, dioxins and furans.
Category 3 - tests for oxidation to assess the stability of the product.
Category 4 - tests for heavy metals such as arsenic, cadmium, nickel and lead.
A product will only receive the highest IFOS rating (five stars) if it scores well on all four categories. The IFOS rating is therefore a very useful tool for testing the quality of fish oil, ensuring its effectiveness and guiding users to the best choice of fish oil.
